There is a place i know that feels like the edge of the world, a place where so many stars stud the night sky it's hard to see the blackness beyond, a place where you can see the slow million year grind of elements in every feature of the land and coastline. its a place where giants once roamed and some say they have started to again......
I visited the wild wet and windy northwest some twenty years ago, drawn by stories of isolated, wild, uncrowded waves, with family roots here hiding a hard history i had always felt the pull of the emerald isle, when i found surfing whilst recovering from a serious injury it only seemed natural to explore a land i felt a kinship with and see what lay hidden. Little did i know back then what i would discover would show me the best friends i have ever known and soak me in experiences that i could only ever dream of, experiences that to this day still humble and blow me away.
In many ways my time spent on that coastline has made life difficult for me as at the moment i am anchored fay away from that shore against another, starved of swell but slick in beauty. I find it hard to adjust to the daily consumer life style that has spread to this part of the World, the street lights are sprawling, traffic jams lug the passage into town and people just seem numb, detached and uncaring.
Now, i know that people the world over are like this but its good to be in a place where not many of those souls dwell........

At the moment that place is a long way away, so i will just have to dig in and take the few scaps that make it up St. George's channel and share a few of those experiences spent on that wild wet and windy north west coast in this blog.....
